Mr. Makara is the Chairperson and a non-executive director of the Lesotho Communications Authority Board of Directors. He is a former police officer and an intelligence officer. He is again, an experienced media practitioner and a practicing journalist.

He has attended in-house training in both still and TV photography and radio production while in both the police and intelligence service. He has written for a number of local newspaper titles. These include the Watchdog Newspaper and Public Eye. He has contributed articles in newspapers, and had for a short while hosted the ‘Sehlohlolong’ programme with People’s Choice FM. He has also pursued a public policy advocacy course with the Open Initiative Society Southern Africa – OSISA.

He has studied and graduated for a Bachelor Degree in Applied Communication Management with the University of Fort Hare Eastern Cape South Africa. He also has a Diploma in Mass Communication obtained from the National University of Lesotho.

He has been engaged as a lecturer at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Lesotho campus as the lecturer in the Faculty of Communication Media and Broadcasting and at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) – Institute of Extra-mural Studies (IEMS) – Research, Evaluation and Media Department (REM) popularly known as Mass Communication Diploma Programme. He has lectured at IEMS from 2008 until now.

He has also consulted for a private sponsor for HIV/AIDS orphaned children at Maliele as a data collector. He now works as subsistence farmer. Furthermore, as a Board member of the LCA, he serves in a number of Board committees.
