Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA), formerly Lesotho Telecommunications Authority (LTA), is a statutory body established in June 2000, with a mandate of regulating the communications sector in Lesotho. This mandate entails: granting licences to operators; promoting fair competition; approving tariffs; managing the radio frequency spectrum; empowering and protecting consumers; type approving terminal equipment and other related matters.
The mandate of the Universal Service Fund (USF) is to ensure that all citizens in the country have access to voice telephony services, Internet access, broadcasting services and basic postal services.
Communications infrastructure is developed mostly in hard to reach areas where there are no roads and electricity but with commitment to service to the people.
Broadband technologies are today driving substantial transformation in many development-related sectors including health, education, financial inclusion and food security.
